History
K Print was founded in 1992 by two Finnish entrepreneurs, but the company has been owned by Estonians already since 1998. The current majority owner, Rein Rebane, purchased the printing business housed in the premises in the Rottermann Quarter of Tallinn from our neighbours across the gulf and took over management of the company. In the beginning, there were only 4 employees. Everyone did a little bit of everything, as is suitable for a small business. However, the company grew over time, and it was soon understood that the Estonian market will remain too small for the ambitions. The first expansion decision was towards the northern neighbour of Finland. This step turned out to be successful and thus the company carried on in both countries until the first economic crisis. As opposed to our current operations, the main products at that time were customs forms and business cards.
In 2011, Rein’s son Rait, who had started university the year before, joined the company. Young and ambitious, Rait took it upon himself to expand the business into Sweden. He put together an export team and jointly set to work. Regardless of the struggles of the first years, their dedication and grit finally saw them through. In 2014, the export turnover already exceeded sales in Estonia. The first success came from the Swedish market, from where recommendations soon propelled them into the Norwegian and then Danish markets. From there, we have expanded into Holland and Germany. Today, about 80% of K Print’s products are exported. Our major markets are Sweden, Finland, and Estonia. We also export products to Norway, Denmark, Holland, Germany, Poland, and sometimes even send our goods to the UK, France, the USA, Canada, Japan, and Thailand.
Over the last 30 years, K Print has grown into one of Estonia’s largest advertisement and packaging printing houses, where 70-100 people are employed, depending on the season. We still consider ourselves to be in a growth phase and see there is still a long way to go before reaching our ambitions!
